Price per person, based on double occupancy, is $5,399 for donor members or $5,799 for future members. Single occupancy rate is an additional $450.
The Gambia is the smallest country in Africa. It is known for the beaches along its small Atlantic coastline and for being home to Jufureh (Juffure), the reputed ancestral village of Kunta Kinte, the main character in Alex Haley’s well-known novel Roots. The capital, Banjul (called Bathurst until 1973), is situated where the Gambia River flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Mission and Cultural Tour
A cultural tour track will be offered for those who want to embark on the adventure of a lifetime. This track can also accommodate the spouses or friends of business mission participants. Daily sightseeing tours have been arranged with ample time to enjoy the sights including excursions to the array of sights and experiences that will give you a true insight into the smiling coast and the wonderful people and culture of Gambia.
Our local Gambian tour guides will help you discover the craft markets, the museums, local cultures and restaurants, James Island, Roots Village, Bakau, Banjul, Serra Kunda, Senegambia, and Westfield.
Cross by ferry to Barra which gives you an insight into River Traffic in the Gambia.
Visit the Kunta Kinteh family and see Fort James, where slaves were held for the slave ships on a journey of no return. Visit a working banana plantation and sample the local wine. A delicious buffet lunch will be served on board.
The preliminary schedule/agenda is detailed below. The itinerary may change between now and the departure date. Ongoing updates and details of the itinerary will be shared with participants.
Day 1 – April 16: Washington Dulles/Brussels/Banjul
Depart from Dulles International Airport via Brussels to Dakar and Banjul. Your adventure begins as you fly trans-Pacific aboard a wide cabin jetliner. We will cross the International Date Line.
Day 2 – April 17: Banjul
Arrive in Banjul, the capital of Gambia. We will be met by our local tour guide at the airport. Transfer to the hotel after dinner.
Day 3 – April 18: Pacholli
All participants will visit Cashew Farms, the largest square in the west Africa. Sight Seeing also includes the Museum.
Day 4 – April 19: James Island
Excursion to James Island. Breakfast and lunch on Boat.
Day 5 – April 20: Tanji
Largest Fish Market. Evening dinner show with traditional Chinese music.
Day 6 – April 21: Serekunda
Morning trip to largest Market.
Day 7 – April 22: St Charles School, Gunjur
Morning visit to the students – kairo Cafe.
Day 8 – April 23: Rober Coker
Sightseeing and trip to the interior around Gambia.
Day 9 – April 24: Banjul/Brussels/Washington DC
Morning flight to Brussels. Afternoon flight will depart for Washington Dulles
